Indonesian Woman Caught by The Brunei Immigration

On the 18th June 2008 (Tuesday night), Brunei Immigration enforcement's officers had caught six foreigners who failed to show any valid documents during the latest operation. While another foreigner was issued a special pass by the Immigration officers. The raid took place at three kampungs in Kampung Kulapis, Kampung Tanjung Nangka and Kampung Kulapis in the Brunei Capital. Among the six foreigners who were caught was an Indonesian woman who is believed to have changed her name in her passport as to avoid detection and an Indonesian man was detained who was allegedly staying in the country with an expired special pass since February.



The Indonesian woman if found guilty will face punishment of not more than B$10,000 fine and imprisonment od not more than five years under chapter 12 (1)(a) Immigration Act Section 146. Whereas for the Indonesian man, if found guilty will face punishment B$600 or six months in jail or a fine not more than B$ 4,000 under Chapter 15(1) Immigration Act Section 17.
